Able Seaman Edward Robert Kortens was an English sailor of the Royal Navy who died during the First World War.
He was born on 31 August 1886, at Toxteth Park, Liverpool, the son of Belgium-born Edward, a lock master for the Manchester Ship Canal, and Mary Ann Kortens (née Kelly), later of Runcorn, Cheshire.
Kortens served with the Nelson Batalion of the Royal Naval Division, an infantry formation, in the Gallipoli Campaign against the Ottoman Empire. He was killed during an offensive at the Helles Beachhead on 13 July 1915.
He has no known grave and is commemorated by the Helles Memorial.
