Private Fritz Rudolph O. Herbing was an English soldier of the British Army who died during the First World War.
He was born in 1877, at Edmonton, the son of German-born commercial clerk Bernhard Leopold and Kate Herbing (née Gillard), of Kingsbridge. At the time of the 1911 census, Herbing was working as a commercial traveller in soap while living with his widowed mother at 29 Osbourne Road. He married, in 1914, to Alice Gertrude Corps.
Herbing died on 23 December 1916, on the Western Front, while serving with the 9th (Service) Battalion, The East Surrey Regiment. HIs older brother, Gustav Emil, a private in the Essex Regiment, died of wounds a year after the war ended.
He is buried in Philosophe British Cemetery, Mazingarbe.
