Private Hermann Edward Dietrich was a Scottish soldier of the British Army who died during the First World War.

He was born on 2 January 1900, in Ayr, the youngest son of German-born hairdresser Herman and Elizabeth Dietrich (née Dobson), of England. Dietrich attended Ayr Academy and enlisted on 1 March 1918, in the Royal Scots.[1]

Dietrich went to the Western Front in July 1918, and subsequently transferred to the 8th Cameronians. He died soon afterwards, on the 29th, near Soissons, during the German Spring Offensive.[1]

He has no known grave and is commemorated by the Soissons Memorial. According to De Ruvigny, Dietrich was buried south-south-west of Baigneux.
