Private Joannes Antonius A ("John") Amato, was an English soldier of the British Army who died during the First World War.

He was born in 1889, in Stepney, the son of Italian-born parents Ronald, a shop "refreshman" by trade, and Rosa Amato. At the time of the 1911 census, the younger Amato was employed as a labourer while living with his family at 43 Farrance Street.

Amato died on 4 May 1917, on the Western Front, while serving with the 1/6th (City of London) Battalion (Rifles), The London Regiment.

He is buried in Wancourt British Cemetery.
