Lance Corporal John Robert Nielsen was an English soldier of the British Army who died during the First World War.
He was born in 1895, in Hartlepool, the son of Danish sailor John (Jens Bruan) and Jane Annie Nielsen (née Matthews). At the time of the 1911 census, Nielsen was working as a house painter.
Nielsen died on 19 September 1916, during the Some Offensive, while serving with the 14th (Service) Battalion, The Durham Light Infantry on the Western Front.
He is buried in Grove Town Cemetery, Meaulte.
