Corporal John Charles Rota was an English soldier of the British Army who died during the First World War.
He was born in 1895, at Islington, the son of Italian confectioner Luigi (Louis) and Catherine Emily Rota (née Sidney), of Clerkenwell. At the time of the 1911 census, Rota was assisting in his father's business while living with his family at 60 High Street, Littlehampton.
Aged 23, Rota died on 9 March 1918, on the Western Front, while serving with the 9th (Service) Battalion, The Royal Fusiliers (City of London Regiment).
He is buried in Meville Communal Cemetery Extension.
