Private Joseph Hyman was an English soldier of the British Army who died during the First World War.
He was born in 1897, at Leeds, the son of Polish-born cabinet maker Isaac and Annie Hyman (née Callinski), local to the city. At the time of the 1911 Census, the Hyman family were residing at 15 Wingham Terrace, Sheepscar.
Aged 20, Hyman died on 10 October 1917, during the Third Battle of Ypres, while serving on the Western Front with the 9th (Service) Battalion, The Prince of Wales's Own (West Yorkshire Regiment).
He is buried in Sanctuary Wood Cemetery.
