Pilot Officer Maurice Gaston Emile Coutanceau was a Mauritian airman of the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died during the Second World War.

He was born the son of Jean Leon Maurice and Madeleine Jeanne Coutanceau, of Rose Hill.

Coutanceau, a pilot with 3 Ferry Pilots' Pool, Air Transport Auxiliary, died on 26 October 1943, aged 23. He had been delivering Hawker Hurricane LE262 from 22 Maintenance Unit, Silloth, to 222 Maintenance Unit, Hight Ercall, when the fighter stalled and crashed.[1] He had married, in 1942, to Pauline Doris Weston.

He is buried in St. Laurence Churchyard, Upminster.
