Flying Officer Ramesh Chandra Datta was an Indian airman of the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.
Aged 32, Datta, a navigator in 97 Squadron, died on 9 July 1943, when his Avro Lancaster (serial ED923) was shot down over Belgium by a German night-fighter, crashing at Bassenge, while engaged on an operation against Koln.
Datta and his six fellow crew are buried in Heverlee War Cemetery, Leuven.
