Private Sidney Joseph Ellison was an English soldier of the British Army who died during the First World War.
He was born in in 1893, in Whitechapel, the son of German-born parents Abraham, a boot finisher, and Leah Ellison. At the time of the 1911 census, Ellison was working as a cabinet maker while living with his family at 76 Plumber's Road.
Ellison died on 4 August 1917, during the Third Battle of Ypres, while serving with the 2nd Battalion, The Royal Irish Regiment on the Western Front. An older brother, Solomon, a private in the Royal Fusiliers, had died in April 1915.
He is buried in Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, Belgium.
