Private Umberto Bruno was an English soldier of the British Army who died during the First World War.
He was born in 1891, in Newport, Monmoutshire, the son of Italian-born Joseph Mario, a professor of music, and Bessie Bruno, of Dorset. At the time of the 1911 census, Bruno himself had become a musician and was living with his family at 32 Birkin Avenue, Nottingham.
Bruno died on 26 August 1917, on the Western Front, while serving with the 10th (Service) Battalion (Grimsby), The Lincolnshire Rergiment.
He has no known grave and is commemorated by the Thiepval Memorial.
