Leading Telegraphist Victor John Stanley Rasmussen was a South African sailor of the South Africa Naval Force who died during the Second World War.
He was born the son of John E.S. and Alice E. Rasmussen, of Durban, Natal. Aged 23, Rasmussen died on 24 November 1941, when the German U-boat U-124 torpedoed and sunk the Royal Navy light cruiser HMS Dunedin off Brazil, with the loss of 419 crew.
Rasmussen has no known grave and is commemorated by the Plymouth Naval Memorial.
