Bombardier William Swinnerton was a Dutch-born marine of the Royal Navy who died during the First World War.

He was born on 20 April 1892, in Amsterdam, the son of salesman John Henry and Hermina Adriana Swinnerton (née Schrikker), of London and Amsterdam, respectively. Swinnerton lived for a while with his family in Paris, and was educated at Woodside and Croydon Borough Secondary School.[1][2][3]

A pre-war volunteer, Swinnerton had enlisted in the Royal Marine Artillery in 1910. He served on the Western Front with the RMA's Anti-Aircraft Brigade and died on 13 May 1915, during the Second Battle of Ypres.[1]

He is buried in Brandhoek Military Cemetery
